Solutions Architect Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management
Focus Enterprise Solutions
Bunnik, Netherlands
Job description
Focus Enterprise Solutions is a strategic partner for all project and management activities in the field of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management (Unified Operations, formerly known as F&O). From implementation to support, we help Small and Medium Enterprises in various industries get the most out of their ERP. By connecting the right people, insights, data & solutions, we guide our customers in their digital platform transformation, now and in the future. Customer satisfaction is our main focus here.
As a Solution Architect at Focus Enterprise Solutions, you are responsible for translating customer problems into concrete solutions. On the one hand, you have a coordinating role, while on the other, you are involved in projects yourself. You may be involved in the pre-sales phase and/or the implementation phase of a project. You can think of the presales phase as a tendering process with the aim of bringing in a customer. This includes completing RFPs and RFIs (requests for proposal) for potential clients and giving presentations and demos to them (sometimes on location, sometimes digitally).
Once the client chooses Focus Enterprise Solutions, the implementation phase begins. During this process, you are in frequent contact with the client to get their challenges and problems clear. Based on this, you link these to Focus Enterprise Solutions’ solutions and start drawing up a plan for this. You discuss this plan with the client, after which you start coordinating and implementing it. Depending on the project, you can delegate part of it to the Developers and Consultants. It therefore varies per project to what extent you are involved in writing and testing functional designs, drawing up implementation budgets and technically setting up the solution. However, your coordinating role does recur in every project. You give feedback to the Developers and Consultants, listen carefully to both colleagues and the client and ensure that everything goes according to plan(ning) and budget.
You are a content expert when it comes to Microsoft, so it is important that you have a lot of knowledge about this (and keep this up to date). You are involved in one or two implementation teams, and sometimes in the pre-sales phase where you work together with Sales colleagues. The implementation teams consist of Developers, Consultants and a Project Leader. If you enjoy working analytically, and find it challenging to deal with feedback and opinions from both customers and colleagues, then this is a job for you!
Roughly speaking, your time commitment will be as follows:
- 40% Contact/appointments with (potential) clients
- 20% Following technical (Microsoft) developments and keeping knowledge up to date
- 15% Preparation of implementation phase
- 15% Preparing presales phase
- 10% Internal consultation
What does your agenda look like?
Your agenda is diverse. For instance, you have an intake meeting with the customer and hear about various problems and challenges. You can’t wait to work this out afterwards and work out a solution. During the less busy days, you are busy preparing for a Microsoft exam. The certification for this has to be renewed every two years, and that takes up quite a bit of time. And of course you also make time to catch up with colleagues, exchange knowledge and occasionally have a drink together.
Example from practice
“A client has chosen to implement not only an application from Focus Enterprise Solutions, but also an application from another party. These applications need to be integrated so that the client’s business process is optimally supported. How do you tackle this?”
You contact the other party to get an idea of the other application being implemented. Based on this, you and the customer put on paper what this will look like in terms of integration. You analyse what bottlenecks and problems may arise, as the business process will be split between two applications. You make this as clear as possible and then explain it to the client. You do this with the Consultant of the other party, so that you can draw up a suitable working method together. Afterwards, you will refine the working method and discuss it with the client until the final solution is in place. You then draw up a plan of action (including implementation budget), so that this can be properly taken up by the project manager. You – or a Consultant – then carry out the implementation. This includes drawing up functional designs, performing test cases and working on the set-up, development and transfer of the solution. You often do this with the Developers, who mainly take on the programming.
